Did you know that Michigan is home to more than 450 bird species? According to American Bird Conservancy "Such impressive diversity is natural given the state's size and proximity to four of the Great Lakes — and the fact that it supports an array of outstanding bird habitats, including boreal and hardwood forests, prairies, dunes, and aquatic systems, including the Great Lakes' open waters."

And According to Bird Watching Academy the top backyard birds to keep an eye our for are:

"Black-capped Chickadee, Hairy Woodpecker, Mourning Dove, Pine Siskin, White-breasted Nuthatch, Song Sparrow, and the Purple Finch"
